How to install, activate, and get help
Getting Persistent Cart working takes one click and one switch: install it from the Shopify App Store, then enable the app embed in your theme editor. If sync ever looks off, it's almost always one of two things — the shopper isn't signed in, or the app embed got switched off. Here's how to set up, get help, and troubleshoot.

How do I install and activate Persistent Cart?
Install Persistent Cart in one click from the Shopify App Store, then enable the app embed to turn it on. After installing, open your theme editor (Online Store → Themes → Customize), go to App embeds in the left panel, toggle Persistent Cart on, and save. That's the 'one switch' — no theme code is edited at any point, and the app's admin shows a short setup guide to walk you through it. One thing worth knowing up front: if you switch or update your theme later, re-check that the app embed is still enabled on the new theme, since that's the most common reason sync stops working.
Where do I get help if I need it?
Email support@persistentcartapp.com and a real person will reply. Persistent Cart is a small, founder-led team, so the person answering usually built the feature you're asking about. There's no ticket queue to navigate — just write in plain language and include your store URL so we can look at your actual setup. We've supported merchants this way since 2016. If you'd like us to check your store proactively, you can also request a free store audit, and we'll tell you whether your store drops signed-in carts across devices and browsers.
What should I do if sync doesn't seem to work?
Start with the two most common causes. First, confirm the shopper is signed in — Persistent Cart syncs only logged-in customers' carts across devices and browsers, so a guest cart won't follow them, by design. Second, confirm the app embed is enabled in your current theme's editor; if you recently changed or updated your theme, the embed may have switched off, which quietly stops sync.
If both are in order and you still see a problem, email support@persistentcartapp.com with your store URL and a description of what you tried. We'll look at your specific setup and reply directly — and run a check on our side if needed.
Questions, answered
Why isn't my cart syncing across devices?
The two usual causes are the shopper not being signed in, or the app embed being disabled. Persistent Cart syncs only logged-in customers' carts, so guests won't carry a cart between devices. And if you switched or updated your theme, the app embed may have turned off — re-enable it in your theme editor under App embeds, then save. If both check out, email us with your store URL.
How do I activate Persistent Cart after installing?
Enable the app embed in your theme editor. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize, open App embeds in the left panel, toggle Persistent Cart on, and save. That single switch activates it — no theme code is edited. The app's admin also shows a short setup guide. If you later change themes, re-enable the embed on the new theme so sync keeps working.
